Inositol occurs naturally in many foods including fruits as a sugar like carbohydrate that is about half as sweet as sugar. It is involved in a number of biological processes, including Insulin signal transduction, Serotonin activity modulation and the breakdown of fats and reducing blood cholesterol. Inositol is also produced by the human body from glucose.
